June 2017

June 2017 turned out to be all about Monsoon and finally some relief from the hot burning heat of the sun. It’s feels so fresh outside, the green leaves, smell of the sand and wet highways reflecting lights; like trance. Well, that’s about me but here’s a collection of what people have been doing this month.

Image: Vishal Trehan // #Monsoon-fed #rivers and streams criss-crossing #Chhattisgarh’s impressive forested landscapes have given rise to some of the most majestic #waterfalls. Here, in the lush #forests of Bastar, we see the milky white Mahendri Ghumar waterfalls plummet 100 m. into the green depths below, against an ethereal rusty-orange sky. A universe unto itself with #natural riches beyond compare – the state of #Chhattisgarh encompasses several Protected Areas. However, today, the challenge of climate change, coupled with slow but persistent #habitat destruction is very real across #India. The future of Chhattisgarh depends on planners looking upon its forests and natural #ecosystems as sources of life and not merely resources or raw materials for short-term objectives. The biodiversity-rich ecosystems have a value that far exceeds superficial aesthetics. These natural infrastructures are critical to Chhattisgarh’s #water, food, economic and social security. By G. Swapnil

Hi! I am G. Swapnil, a working professional happily married to G. Divya and I love to go about places, explore what's around me and script them for memories. I've been traveling Chhattisgarh since I came back completing my PG in 2008 from Amity University, Noida. There was lot to wander in Chhattisgarh as it was comparatively unexplored and had been recently identified as a separate state. Leaving Raipur behind on weekends, finding peace on the roads, the horizon and halts it became a passion. Slowly, I started collecting these journeys on Instagram and later founded this travelogue Welcome236. I am excited to know your opinion of the blog and if you want to get in touch with me for suggestions, feedbacks and collabs then email me on wanderlust@welcome236.com. I'll be quick to respond on Instagram DM https://www.instagram.com/welcome236_.
