May 2017

May 2017 turned out to be extremely hot till 3rd week and recorded an all time high of 49 degrees in Bilaspur. It’s really wonderful to know that even in such extreme conditions, the wanderers kept moving and clicked some of the most beautiful facets of Chhattisgarh. The beauty and the heat, this month is dedicated to all those pictures which must’ve taken a great effort and no doubt, sweat. By the way, towards the end of 4th week… it rained, ah! such a relief.

Shivrinarayan was named after an old lady Shabari. When Ram visited Shabari she said “I do not have anything to offer other than my heart, but here are some berry fruits. May it please you, my Lord.” Saying so, Shabari offered the fruits she had meticulously collected to Rama. When Rama was tasting them, Lakshmana raised the concern that Shabari had already tasted them and therefore unworthy of eating. To this Rama said that of the many types of food he had tasted, “nothing could equal these berry fruits, offered with such devotion. You taste them, then alone will you know. Whomsoever offers a fruit, leaf, flower or some water with love, I partake it with great joy.”

It is India’s largest ever cleanliness drive with 3 million government employees, and especially school and college students from all parts of India, participating in the campaign. #Raipur #India #Chhattisgarh #water #travel #traveling #visiting #instatravel #instago #city #vehicle #sea #watercraft #landscape #river #tourism #sky #people #daylight #building #outdoors #weather #environment #cleanindia #swachbharatabhiyan #

By G. Swapnil

Hi! I am G. Swapnil, a working professional happily married to G. Divya and I love to go about places, explore what's around me and script them for memories. I've been traveling Chhattisgarh since I came back completing my PG in 2008 from Amity University, Noida. There was lot to wander in Chhattisgarh as it was comparatively unexplored and had been recently identified as a separate state. Leaving Raipur behind on weekends, finding peace on the roads, the horizon and halts it became a passion. Slowly, I started collecting these journeys on Instagram and later founded this travelogue Welcome236. I am excited to know your opinion of the blog and if you want to get in touch with me for suggestions, feedbacks and collabs then email me on wanderlust@welcome236.com. I'll be quick to respond on Instagram DM https://www.instagram.com/welcome236_.
